So, Apple, at the Time Flies event, released several things, like the Apple Watches 6 and SE, Apple One, but the most interesting of them all was perhaps the all-new iPad Air 4th generation or iPad Air 2020. It comes with the new iPadOS 14 and looks promising. In fact, it could even be the iPad Pro killer, considering its price and its specs, and that’s exactly what we’re going to talk about today. Please be sure to share this post with as many people as you can, as that would really help this blog.
The first thing is the price. The iPad Air starts at Rs. 54900 (599 USD in the US), and will start selling in India from next month. Starts means that’s the price for the 64GB variant, and we don’t know 256GB variant, but the American price for it is 749 USD.
The processor is, of course, Apple’s own A14 Bionic chip, which is completely amazing. It’s Apple’s best and most powerful chip yet, and is simply amazing. It’s one of the best chips on the market right now, and any type of heavy workload can be handled easily by this processor.
The iPad Air has two variants based on the storage: the 64GB variant and the 256GB variant. As is obvious, these variants are great for all kinds of users: the ones who don’t want that much storage, and the ones who want a lot of storage. Since it can be used as the main device for enterprise-level users, and since those users have a lot of important files on their devices, the large amount of storage in this iPad is going to be very useful.
It has a 12MP rear camera with Focus Pixels and a 7MP HD FaceTime (selfie) camera. There’s not really much to say about the camera. As always, all the photos taken with it will look great, and the HD FaceTime camera will allow great video calls.
Now we’ll talk about the display. This iPad has a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display with a 2360x1640 pixel resolution. As always, the iPad has a great display, and everything will look great on it.
Apple has put, instead of a Lightning port, a simple and nice USB-C port in this device, a feature that I think most people will find useful. Another change is that instead of a home-button fingerprint sensor, Apple has now put the fingerprint sensor on the top in the power button, which is a nice change.
If you want to talk about looks, the iPad comes in four beautiful colours: Sky Blue, Green, Rose Gold and Space Grey. My personal favourite is Space Grey, and please be sure to tell your own favourite colour in the comments.

Now, we’ll talk about the real stuff about this device. The first thing is its main accessories: the Apple Pencil and the Magic Keyboard. Let’s start with the Apple Pencil. With iPadOS 14, Apple has given us a wider range of tasks to do with the Pencil. The implementation of it makes it possible for it to be used almost anywhere. The Scribble feature, which turns handwriting into text, is very handy, and you can use the Notes app to write something, which it will automatically turn into text. Then there is the note-taking. Note-taking with the iPad and the Apple Pencil has always been great, and Apple hasn’t disappointed us this time. The note-taking is amazing on this device, and with student discounts, this device is perfect for all college students.
Another thing to do with the Apple Pencil is designing. The iPad, paired with the Apple Pencil, has always been a favourite of designers and artists. This time, with Procreate and the A14 Bionic chip, this is one of the best designing tools on the market right now, even better than most drawing tablets. The chipset allows for heavy workloads and will work smoothly with any amount of designing, this time with 40% faster CPU performance, and 30% faster graphics (or so Apple says).
Now we’ll talk about the Magic Keyboard. This is the accessory that makes this device feel better than most laptops. This keyboard gives one of the best typing experiences on the market, while also making the iPad float magnetically. This keyboard also has a built-in trackpad, which uses Apple’s “magnetic cursor”, which, in my opinion, is the single best cursor that exists. With the iWork office suite (including Apple’s own apps: Pages, Numbers and Keynote), you can replace your laptop, and make work and productivity a simple matter.
One of the main things about this device is the A14 Bionic chipset. I know I already talked about it, but because of the power this chip packs and the importance of this single component in this device, it deserves another paragraph. Like I said before, this is a very powerful chip, and most of this iPad’s features seem to depend on this chip. With this CPU, the iPad out-performs most laptops, and this chip is the single most important part of this device, making all of its attractions and features possible. It’s the reason that this iPad can handle heavy workloads, do high-level video editing and handle most of the features that the iPadOS 14 offers.
Another thing about the iPad Air is that it outshines the iPad Pro. The only things that the Pro has over the Air are the 0.1 inch bigger screen, the 120Hz display and slightly more storage in the base variant, which I don’t think are worth paying Rs. 17,000 more for.
Lastly, should you buy it? Absolutely. This is one of the best Tablets on the market right now, with much better value than the other iPads, tablets and laptops, and it’s good for doing anything (even 4K video editing). This is one of the best devices that I have ever seen, and if Apple keeps coming out with stuff like this, they will be considered the best tech company in existence.
Good comprehensive review .
