Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Might Just be the Best Deal in Gaming

So, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate has been very successful since it launched and I have some opinions on it. With the new consoles just on the horizon, what time would be better than this? Today, in this article, I’ll be discussing both about Game Pass Ultimate, its benefits and other things along with how it can affect the sales of Xbox Series X and S. Game Pass Ultimate



Now, the first question is: What is Game Pass Ultimate? Game Pass Ultimate is like the holy grail of Xbox services, kind of like the recently announced Apple One. It includes all the major services from Xbox. It includes Xbox Live Gold, Xbox Game Pass for Console, Xbox Game Pass for PC and very recently Xbox Game Pass mobile streaming AND EA Play is also coming on November 10. Let’s go through these one-by-one.


Xbox Live Gold is the subscription which is needed to play online multiplayer games even if you have bought the game. It’s similar to PS Plus on PlayStation. And it also gives you three to four games per month for free and you can keep them until you keep on recharging your subscription. Even if you pause your subscription for, say, a year and then recharge it afterwards, you’ll still have these games. This month, for example, Slayaway Camp, Maid of Sker, Sphinx and the cursed mummy and Costume Quest are the free games. You can also get exclusive discounts on the Xbox Store if you have this service. This service costs $9.99 per month (Rs. 489 per month in India) and $24.99 quarterly (quarterly option not available in India).


Xbox Game Pass for consoles is like the Netflix of games. It is a monthly subscription that provides you with over 100 games which are available to play. Your progress is also saved for every game you play on Game Pass even if you pause the subscription. You can even get discounts on many games with this subscription. The games in this service are available to play until the subscription is active and new games are added per month. It is a very good subscription and costs just $9.99 per month (Rs. 489 in India). Xbox Game Pass for PC is the same subscription but for PC and costs just the same at $9.99 (Rs. 489 in India).


Xbox Game Streaming for mobile (previously xCloud) is also similar to Game Pass but it’s on the mobile. You just need a decent internet connection (10Mbps download and 4.75Mbps upload speed) and any controller to play the games as the games are streamed over the internet. It doesn’t cost anything by itself but it is available with Game Pass Ultimate if you want to play Game Pass games. And it does not cost even a single penny if you want to stream your games from your Xbox.


Now, about EA Play. EA Play is another service like the Xbox Game Pass but it only includes EA games. With this service, you can get early access to new EA games for up to 10 hours. You can also get a 10% discount on EA digital purchases. It costs $4.99 per month and $29.99 per year.


If we now calculate the total cost of all the things this subscription includes, the total comes out to be $344.72 per year. And guess what Game Pass Ultimate costs? Just $14.99 per month and the total comes out to be $179.88 per year which is about half of the total cost of the individual services. And if you include the cost of two $60 games which is what an average person would usually buy, you can already start seeing why people like this subscription so much.


Now, Let’s talk about how this can affect the Series X|S sales. Firstly, I want to tell you that I have also bought the Game Pass Ultimate this month and already found the next game I want to own. This made me think about what next-gen console I would like to own. And after playing for a few days, I am really drawn towards the Xbox ecosystem. I’ll have to admit that I already own the Xbox One S but I won’t make a biased decision due to that. I have also played on the PS4 and I didn’t enjoy it as much as the Xbox. I feel like the Game Pass in itself has drawn many people towards the Xbox ecosystem but Game Pass Ultimate is just the icing on the cake. I’ve already seen many people shifting to the Xbox ecosystem due to just this reason. 


Just buy a console and get Game Pass Ultimate and you are all set. You can try any game from the gigantic catalogue of games. If you like it, fine and dandy. If you don’t, no issues just try another one. If you happen to like a game so much that would want to own it, Xbox has got you covered too. You can get a discount on Game Pass games if you have the Game Pass Ultimate or the Game Pass subscription active. And of course, you have got the added benefit of multiplayer with Xbox Live Gold. 


All these benefits have impacted Xbox sales so much that the Xbox Series X|S preorders sold out within seconds. So yeah, this is a great subscription both for Xbox and for consumers and I think that this is a great deal for someone who doesn’t want to spend too much on games. In the end I would say that I just love Game Pass Ultimate and I think that everybody should try it.

So, Samsung’s Note 20 Ultra caught my attention. It’s a month old phone, and one that people might ignore, but I thought that it was worth talking about.
