Microsoft has been very successful in generating hype for its next-generation console- Xbox Series X. Up to this point, Microsoft has always been one step ahead of Sony in giving out information about its console to gamers. Its specifications also look much better than the PS5’s. So, today I will go in detail about the Xbox Series X and see if it has any chance of winning the next generation of consoles. First, let's talk about the specs.
The Xbox Series X has an AMD Ryzen Zen2 based CPU clocked at 3.8GHz without Simultaneous Multi-Threading and runs at 3.6GHz with SMT enabled. Compare this to the max frequency of 3.5GHz in the PS5 and the clear winner here is the Xbox Series X. On the GPU side of things, the Xbox has a 12 Teraflop GPU compared to the 10.28 Teraflop one on the PS5. So, here too the Xbox Series X is the clear winner. Long story short the Xbox beats the PS5 in every way except the SSD, which in the PS5 is way better than the one in the Xbox.
Use of proprietary Storage expansion card: One thing the fans disgraced was the use of the proprietary expansion card used by the Series X. They said that Microsoft was just thinking of making a profit by bringing us back to the era of PS2 Memory cards. But look at the bright side of this. The expansion card matches the internal storage exactly, which means that there won’t be any compromises in performance when you are using that expansion card. On top of that, you can also use a USB 3.0 Hard Drive. Also, Microsoft is a company and they too need to make a profit.
Next thing, the design. Now obviously, the design is a relative feature. Some people might like a design, others might hate it. It really depends on you and what you like. Like I really hated the design of the PS5 controller. But it depends on what you like. I, personally like the PC-Like design of Series X.
Let's come to the main thing: the games. Games are the main thing people look for in a console. The Xbox Game Studios branch of Xbox has been very good keeping up on the game front. Xbox has been bringing out many games recently including it's the latest game Grounded from Obsidian Entertainment. One thing I like about the Xbox Game Studios’ approach is that they allow the studios to work according to their will. For example, Obsidian was already working on Grounded before its acquisition by Xbox Game Studios but couldn't get a chance to put the focus on this game. After its acquisition by Xbox game studios, it was able to finish its work on Grounded and the team was very excited to bring people this magical experience. People often complain that Xbox has no exclusives and it brings its games to PC. I think there is no problem with that. In fact, it helps to bring people together. Imagine a world where Gamers are not bound by the limitations of which platform they play on. They can choose any platform and seamlessly connect with their friends and I think Xbox is taking a step in this direction so that it can bring people together. Also, PlayStation is already bringing many of its exclusives to PC.
The marketing team at Xbox is also very well prepared this time. We have already been given a lot of information about the console. This has created a lot of hype in the community.
All in all, we can say that Xbox’s side looks pretty solid this year from game releases to the console’s specs Xbox has not yet let its fans down. If Xbox continues to work this way we can surely say that it is a pretty good Contender to win in this next generation of consoles.
